How to Create Email Templates

Email templates save time and ensure consistent branding across all your campaigns. Use Pulsar's drag-and-drop editor to create professional emails without any coding.

Choose from pre-built templates or start from scratch

What you'll need

• Admin or Manager role on the campaign

• Your campaign logo and brand colors

• Content for your template

Creating a Template

Open Template Editor

Go to Outreach → Templates and click Create Template.

Choose a Starting Point

• Blank - Start from scratch

• Pre-built - Use a Pulsar template

• Copy existing - Duplicate one of your templates

Name Your Template

Use a descriptive name: "Fundraising Appeal", "Event Invitation", "Weekly Newsletter".

Using the Editor

Content Blocks

Drag these elements into your email:

• Text - Paragraphs and headings

• Image - Photos, graphics, logos

• Button - Call-to-action links

• Divider - Horizontal lines

• Social - Social media icons

• Columns - Multi-column layouts

Styling Options

Customize each element:

• Fonts and text size

• Colors and backgrounds

• Padding and margins

• Borders and shadows

Personalization

Insert merge fields that auto-populate:

• {first_name} - Recipient's first name

• {last_name} - Recipient's last name

• {city} - Their city

Always preview on mobile! Click the phone icon to see how your email looks on small screens.

Template Best Practices

Design

• Keep it simple - 1-2 columns max

• Use high-contrast colors

• Make buttons large and obvious

• Include your logo at the top

Content

• Lead with the most important info

• Keep paragraphs short

• One clear call-to-action per email

• Use bullet points for lists

Saving and Managing

Save Your Template

Click Save to store your template for future use.

Organize Templates

Use folders to organize by type: Fundraising, Events, GOTV, etc.
