Running a Union Campaign
Pulsar has four union programs. Each one sets the roles, goals, and AI framing for the work you're doing.
The four programs
• Organizing drive - building majority support in a unit. Goals count cards and support, not votes.
• Member political program - member contact and turnout for endorsed candidates and measures. Election dates and turnout goals stay on.
• Contract campaign - majority participation, escalation, and the bargaining timeline.
• Public-sector local - member engagement and outreach for a public-sector unit.
Employer, unit, and unit size
In step 3 you can add the employer, the bargaining unit, and the unit size. The AI uses the employer and unit for research. If you leave the unit size blank, the plan shows it as not known: Pulsar never estimates it.
Roles
Step 2 offers union roles, such as Lead Organizer, Organizing Director, Member Organizer, Steward Coordinator, Political Director, and Secretary-Treasurer.
Verification
Verify with your DOL/OLMS file number or your EIN. A 501(c)(5) EIN is checked against IRS records. An OLMS number goes to a manual check. See Verifying Your Organization's Identity.
Your union's PAC
Political fund work that contributes to candidates belongs to the union's PAC, a separate entity. Create a PAC campaign for it and verify it with its FEC or state ID.
