Verifying Your Organization's Identity

Organizations verify their legal identity with the identifier their regulator issued. A verified identity enables fundraising on Kyndara and entity-aware planning.

Which identifier to use

• 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), 501(c)(6) - your EIN. Pulsar checks it against IRS tax-exempt records.

• PAC, super PAC, 527 - your FEC committee ID (starts with C). Pulsar checks it with the FEC.

• Party committee - your FEC committee ID, or your state filer ID if you file only with the state.

• Union - your DOL/OLMS file number from your LM-2, LM-3, or LM-4 filing, or your EIN.

• Coalition - its EIN if it is incorporated.

• Ballot measure committee - your state committee registration ID.

When your organization can use more than one identifier, the form shows a Verify with choice.

Where to verify

• Step 5 of the Campaign Wizard.

• Compliance > Identity for an organization campaign. The dashboard's Verify Organization step opens it.

• Settings > Identity & Compliance with your organization selected, to verify the organization once for its campaigns of the same kind.

Verified, pending, or not found

• Verified - the registry confirmed the identifier.

• Pending - no public registry can confirm it automatically, for example a DOL/OLMS file number, a union EIN outside 501(c)(5), or a state filer ID. Pulsar staff check these by hand and update the status.

• Not found - check the number and try again.

Separate entities verify separately

A union's PAC, or a nonprofit's 501(c)(4) arm, has its own identifier. Verify each campaign under the entity that runs it.
