Navigating the Chart
Find the Timeline
The Growth Timeline appears below the metrics grid on your dashboard. It shows a line chart with your selected metric over time.
Select a Metric
Use the dropdown to choose which metric to display:
• Total Contacts - Database growth
• Total Raised - Cumulative fundraising
• Supporter IDs - Identified supporters over time
• Volunteer Hours - Team engagement
• Doors Knocked - Field activity
Adjust Time Range
The chart respects your dashboard date filter. Change the date range to zoom in or out on different time periods.
Reading the Chart
Line Interpretation
• Upward slope - Growth/improvement
• Flat line - Stagnation (may need attention)
• Steep climb - Rapid growth (good momentum)
• Plateaus - Growth pause (analyze cause)
Hover for Details
Hover over any point on the chart to see:
• Exact date
• Precise value
• Change from previous point
Spot Correlations
Compare different metrics to find correlations. Does fundraising spike after events? Do contacts grow after canvass pushes?
Adding Context
Event Markers
Key campaign events appear as markers on the timeline:
• Campaign launch
• Major events
• Email campaigns sent
• Press coverage
These help you understand what drove metric changes.
Goal Lines
If you've set targets, they appear as horizontal lines showing:
• Your goal level
• How current trajectory compares
• Projected goal achievement date
Strategic Insights
Use the Growth Timeline to answer key questions:
• Are we building momentum? - Look for accelerating growth
• What activities drive results? - Compare events to metric changes
• When did things change? - Identify inflection points
• Will we hit our goals? - Project current trajectory forward
Don't Over-React to Daily Fluctuations
Some variation is normal. Focus on weekly and monthly trends rather than day-to-day changes.
